Town of Woodstock
Conservation Commission Minutes from August 3, 2009
Present: Jackie Wilson
Meeting called to order: 6:30 pm.
1. New mail:
a. The DES acknowledged receipt of an application for a Shoreline Permit at 19 Daniel Webster Highway from Mr. and Mrs. Read of Foxboro, MA.
b. The DES issued an Alteration of Terrain Permit to Todd Baldwin and the Pemi Chapter of Trout Unlimited. Although the letter was dated 7/2/09, it stated that the permit would expire on 7/2/09.
2. Jackie would like to announce that she is going to resign, or at least take a hiatus from the Cons Com as of October this year. She realizes that the position of Chair requires more time than she can contribute, especially in light of personal family events. She will attend the September 7th meeting but will then step away from the ConsCom, probably until at least next summer.
Jackie sent the following in an email to other ConsCom members:
“There is one thing that I would like to do before October, and that is to meet with Mike Sabourin to talk about a conservation easement on the Clark Farm property. I know that we are all behind this project, and I have been the one slated to arrange to meet with Sabourin; Rodney has offered to go with me. Well, months have gone by since I agreed to call him, and I STILL have not done so. It’s easy to make a phone call, but next to impossible to find the time for me to meet with him (let alone be articulate and organized with my thoughts!). The other problem I foresee with this is that we will not have the time/energy to follow through on the process and stewardship of the easement. However, I hate to let this opportunity pass by- I think it’s much better to approach Sabourin well before plans to develop the Clark Farm materialize than to wait until there is something before the Planning Board.
Please, might one of you be interested in being the Chair, for at least the next year? Do you know of anyone that you could ask to be on the ConsCom? I would hate to see the ConsCom fall apart completely- we have the proposed South Mountain easement pending, and we should keep on top of the other 2 easements the town currently holds (ie: visit once per year.”
3. If you are interested in joining the Conservation Commission, please attend our next meeting at 6:30pm on September 7th and/or email Jackie at jf-wilson@hotmail.com.
Meeting adjourned: 7:30
